SETTING UP SMARTMINE STEP-BY-STEP

  • Download SmartMine from from the home screen or on GitHub here. Once you have downloaded it, run smartmine_setup.exe to start the installation process

  • Once installed, you can run SmartMine.exe and follow the Setup Process there, which is recommended for new users. Alternatively, you can continue following this guide if you would like to set up SmartMine manually:

  • SmartMine allows you to use any mining pool you like. If you wish to use Suprnova pools, head over to each of these links and create an account:

  • Please make a note of your Username, as you will need to enter this into SmartMine later. Please also make a note of the four-digit PIN you enter when creating the account.

  • This will take about 15 minutes to do, but only needs to be done once. Please note that there is some overlap between pools, i.e., your ZEC login may be valid with ZEN. Therefore, you should try logging in before creating an account. If you cannot login with a previously created account nor make a new one with the same login, you may need to reset the password.

  • While logged into Suprnova, click on 'My Account' and then 'My Workers' on the drop-down menu on the left. This is where you create a worker on the pool for your mining PC. Note that you can use the same worker for different computers mining at the same time. You may need to do this for all of the links above.

Create a Worker in Suprnova
  • Enter a 'Worker Name' and a 'Worker Password' (note: this password does not need to be secure, as it cannot be used to log into your account) and make a note of these. You may need to do this for all the links above. Also, make sure to use the same 'Worker Name' and 'Password' for each pool.

  • If you wish to mine GRS, you can follow a similar process here. You can find a pool for ETC here and FTC here.

  • Once you have created pool accounts and workers, you can head over to where you installed SmartMine and run SmartMine.exe. On the top left you'll find 'Pool Setup'. Click this button and a new window will appear where you can enter the credentials for the pool accounts you created.

  • The 'Mine' option determines whether the corresponding coin will be mined. 'True' means it will be mined, 'False' means it will not.

  • What you enter in the 'Server' field will depend on which pool you are using. If you created accounts with the pools suggested above, you can click the 'Restore Defaults' button at the bottom. This will prepare the fields to use our recommended pools.

  • For most pools, you should enter your [username].[worker name] in the 'User' field, as is the case for Suprnova pools. An example is: aL_eX.worker_1, where 'aL_eX' is the Suprnova username, and 'worker_1' is the name of a worker as configured above.

  • The 'Password' field requires the 'Worker Password' you created earlier. In the example image above, the worker password is 'x'. Note that some pools don't require passwords ( i.e., those that use your wallet address as a username) in which case you should leave the 'Password' field blank.

  • The 'Intensity' value determines how much of your GPUs resources will be allocated to mining. If this is your first time mining, we recommend that you do not modify this value as it could cause instability. However if you are comfortable changing the intensity, you might be able to increase performance slightly by increasing the intensity value.

  • When you have finished configuring the 'Pool Setup' window, click 'Save and Close'.

  • Once you are back at the main SmartMine window, click on 'Settings' to chose which currency to display profitability statistics in, as well as other options. You can hover over the 🛈 symbol to find out what each setting does. Click 'Save and Close' to return to the main SmartMine window when you have finished.

  • Clicking 'Benchmark' will open a new window. Click on 'Start Benchmark All' to commence the benchmark process. SmartMine will automatically determine the hash rates for each algorithm and display them in a table, where you can modify them if you wish.

  • You are now ready to start mining! Click 'Run' and let SmartMine decide which coin to mine. Feel free to explore the different tabs in the main window, where you will find reports on current hash rate, average hash rates over time, estimated earnings and more.

WITHDRAWING FUNDS FROM POOLS

  • Once you have been mining with SmartMine for a while, you'll be able to withdraw what you have mined from each of the pools.

  • To withdraw from each pool, click on 'My Account' and then 'Edit Account' on the drop-down menu on the left. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page where you will find the  'CASH OUT' section. In order to cash out, you will need to provide a 'Payment Address' in the section above entitled 'ACCOUNT DETAILS' (please see the 'Generating Payout Addresses' section below for instructions on how to generate wallet addresses for each coin). Additionally, you will need the four-digit PIN you entered when creating the account in order to modify any settings.

GENERATING PAYOUT ADDRESSES

  • An easy way to generate addresses for each coin is to use a mobile wallet such as Coinomi. You can use their help section if you need help getting started.

  • Another convenient way to generate addresses for each coin is by using an exchange and sending your coins there. Another benefit of doing this is that you will be able to convert the coins that you mine into whatever coin you chose, such as Bitcoin (BTC) or Ethereum (ETH).

  • You can create a Bittrex account here. Once you have done that, click on 'Wallets' in the top right corner of the screen.

Bittrex Wallets
  • Once at the 'Wallets' screen, type the name of the coin you want to deposit in the search bar on the top right.

  • Click on the blue "plus" symbol next to the name of the coin you want to deposit. Then click on 'New Address'. This address can now be used to deposit coins from a pool. Please refer to the section above for instructions on how to do this.
